Summer may be perfect for vacations and lazy days at the lake, but there’s also plenty of opportunities for romance as well. If you’re looking for a summer romance of your own, then these first date tips may help you get off on the right foot.

Location, location, location

Finding the right outing for your first date this summer is important. To reduce the stress and pressure of first encounters, select a place that allows you to chat and relax. Coffee shops and pub-style bars create a friendly and inviting setting.

Since the point of a first date is to get to know each other and see if there is any chemistry, you may want to do an activity together. This can allow you to interact with your date and speed up the “getting to know each other” process. A few ideas include:

  • Play mini-golf
  • Head to an arcade
  • Take a cooking class
  • Visit an art gallery

Dress up or dress down?

Of course what you wear will depend on where you’re going. You won’t dress for dinner and a round of mini-golf the same way you might for wine tasting and a visit to an art gallery. The most important thing is that you wear something that gives you confidence! A few things to keep in mind include:

  • You may want to ask your date how much you should dress up for the occasion. The last thing you want is to be under- or over-dressed in comparison to them!
  • The clothes you wear can definitely send messages, so be sure you’re sending the right one! This is especially important if you’re not sure that you have a lot of chemistry just yet.

Now that you have a place to go and something to wear, you’re all set to make a great impression. Where your summer romance takes you – well, that’s entirely up to you!
